Halfway Reflection

Tenacious Behaviors
Throughout this first half of the semester, I have developed the habit of working ahead. Whenever you have just a little extra time, work ahead. For example, I create my posts about a week in advance. And through the week, I start adding the content and formatting it to how I want it to look. But since this is not my only class, I have to always be doing it on the side. So if I get to a class early, or if I'm in the computer lab and the T.A hasn't arrived yet, I'll work on the blog.
But always work ahead, future you will thank you.
Also work smarter. This doesn't mean work less, but change the way you work. If you've always done something a certain way, and never really got the hang of it, switch it up and see if the results change. Find the best way to work that suits you. -
Staying Motivated
There are always those times when you just don't want to keep trying. Whether it is in a math class, or maybe a physics class, or even in this class, you'll encounter those moments, nobody is different in that sense.
Where you set yourself apart from the rest is on how you take it in and react to it. I had that experience in my Calc. 2 class. I just didn't get it. The content was hard, the work was excessive, and since summer is shorter, I had little time to prepare for the first exam. I did terrible. But I had been there before, almost. This is exactly the reason why I even signed up for Calc. 2, I already took AP Calc. AB/BC in high school, and I passed the exam. But I still wonder how I passed it, since I left a big part of it unanswered. And in that class, I struggled for a good while before finally kicking it up a notch. From there, it was relatively smooth sailing. So this time was no different. I thought of a solution: focus more, take better notes, manage my time to do the homework, and go back to get better at what I failed before. I have yet to see concrete results, but I have a quiz the Friday this post goes live, so we'll see. -
Tips
- Believe In Yourself
Nobody else will if you don't do it first. Always think to yourself "I can do this, I just need to..." when you are going through a rough patch. Come up with a solution, or a workaround. - Ask For Help
"There's always someone who knows a little more, is a little faster, has a little more experience" (Joshua Fox The Great). It's okay to not be good at everything. It's normal, actually. But there's always someone who is good at whatever you are not, and is willing to help you out as much as you need it. Don't hesitate to ask other for help, cause that shows you care and you're trying hard. - Keep Going
Be like the turtle. You may be "bound" to fail from the very beginning, but you'll never actually know that until you are done. It won't feel good to be in a situation like that, and you may feel worse once you are done, regardless of the result. That's okay, everyone has those times. But if you keep trying, it will eventually stop. If you stop trying, you may have been really close to your desired result, but you never got it.
